Suns Out Guns Out

Hello Everyone!

I know I already blogged today but I just wanted to pop in and say how happy I am that it's 6:51 PM and I still need to wear sunglasses! Summer is around the corner and I am loving it.

Light It Up

Hello Everyone!

Recently, I realized that I had a ton of polaroids and absolutely nowhere to put them, so I decided to be creative and pin them to an old cork-board. I then decided to tape some Christmas lights around them to create the luminous frame. This was the result and I truly love it!

I wish I could show you all in person as the picture does not do it justice, but you get the point. I didn't want to put the photos in an album since I love them so much and I didn't want them to be hidden away. Hopefully it'll inspire you to bust out your photo albums and be creative!

Coconut Oil Hair Mask

Hi Everyone!

I have very dry and brittle hair that gets extremely worse in the winter. Think thin pieces of straw...but worse. Anyways lately I've turned to using coconut oil masks and I'm absolutely in love with it!

I apply the coconut oil on unwashed wet hair, tie it in a bun, and keep it overnight. In the morning I wash it out and let my hair air dry and it's super soft!! Just wanted to share this little all natural tip with you and to let you know that I've tried it and it works! Have you ever used it?

Neutrals on Easter

 Hello Everyone!

Happy Easter! Unfortunately, I didn't get to do any egg colouring or Easter baking this year. On the bright side, I did get to spend it with my boyfriend and my family which is a big step for us (believe me). I ate a ton and I feel great about it.
I went for a pretty neural makeup look today that I wanted to show you guys! Let me know what you think!

Look how artsy I am

My Tip For A Bloated Belly

 Hello Everyone!

Hope your Easter weekend has been lovely! After all of this eating  my stomach has been left absolutely b l o a t e d! It happens quite a bit with me, especially when I eat certain foods.
My tip for you all is peppermint tea (or any type of digestive tea with peppermint in it)! This has been a life saver for me and I've been drinking it every night. It is by no means a weight loss trick, it simply helps relieve the nasty food-baby feeling I get after eating a large meal. Plus, it gives me a reason to pull out my fancy tea cup from Chapters and pretend I'm a sophisticated woman.

Anyways just thought I'd share this with you since it's a tip I've absolutely loved and works wonderfully. Let me know if you try it and what you think!

Ringing in the Spring

Hello Everyone!

I recently picked up the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear nail polish in #325 Big Teal and thought I'd share it with you! I was looking for a beautiful baby blue colour to ring in the spring time with and I think this did the trick. I've purchased light coloured nail polishes before and it would literally take 4 coats for the colour to really show up, however this isn't the case with this nail polish. It's actually very opaque and only needs two coats to get the full effect. I applied this on Saturday and we'll see how long it lasts! I'll update you all in the near future.

Here's a picture to get an idea of what it looks like on my toes (excuse my weird feet)

Lots of love!

A Day Without Makeup

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to share a photo of myself without makeup since this is how I went out today. I was not crazy about the idea but then I thought about you all and figured that if I'm going to share my life with you then we need to get downright natural! We're in this together lovelies.
I just feel as though there's a lot of pressure on women to wear makeup so that we can all be on fleek together, but there's nothing wrong with taking a day off from it. You may get a "wow you look tired" comment, which I often get, but chances are I was up all night studying so thank you kind person for recognizing how studious I am.
The point I'm trying to make is that it's great if you wear makeup, which I often do, but it's also okay if you don't. There are some days where I wake up and couldn't be bothered to contour or highlight or conceal my pimples and that's okay! I just want you all to be confident and love the skin you're in.

Forever 21 Shopping Trip

Hello Lovelies!
I recently went to Forever 21 and picked up a couple of cute pieces that I wanted to show you! I have a friend's birthday coming up this Saturday and so I decided I needed a couple of new pieces (at least that's how I'm justifying these purchases to make myself feel better). I love Forever 21 most of the time since they have great items for pretty cheap!

The first thing my eyes landed on was this beautiful white crop top. I feel that it's more of a summery shirt, however, I'm so in love with it I might just have to pull it out this weekend. It was a little more expensive than what I usually buy but the material is so thick that I feel the quality was worth the price. (Price: $29.90 Canadian)

Next is a more simple black and white striped crop top. It I plan on pairing this with black high waisted skinny jeans and little black booties. (Price: $19.90 Canadian)

Finally I just wanted to mention their undershirts since you can pick up these beauties for $3.00 Canadian! I am a cardigan fiend and I wear white undershirts underneath almost every day. I also have a habit of spilling my food on myself and so every time I head over to Forever 21 I pick up 2-5 of these shirts. No joke. These undershirts are my life.

The Cure to a Gloomy Day

Hello Lovelies!

Today I cut my leg pretty bad while shaving in the shower, I had to walk home in the middle of torrential rain pour, and I was persistently flirted with by my creepy lab partner. I then decided to order pizza and binge watch house. I'd say I ended off the day quite well.

Hope you all had some goodness on this gloomy day.

Tips for Dry Lips

Hello Lovelies!

If you're anything like me, your lips are dry 24/7 and this makes putting on lipstick absolutely dreadful. I've tried TONS of beauty hacks and tricks but none of them have ever really worked out for my lips. I used to use the honey and sugar lip scrub as my primary means of removing the dry bits from my lips before putting on lipstick. Most of the time it was great, however I found when my lips were super dry the scrub would be too harsh and cause my lips to crack and bleed. Maybe I'm just an aggressive lip scrubber? Who knows! Anyways, I found this technique to be the most effective if I moisturized my lips beforehand or if I did it right out of the shower. This way the skin was softer and easier to work with and no more cracking or bleeding!

Although that was a great method, I've found something that works even better for my sensitive lips. I'm not sure if you've heard of it but it's the toothbrush method. Basically, I'll moisturize my lips with some sort of lip balm, let that sit for a couple of minutes, then take a toothbrush and gently brush my lips. Once I'm done I'll apply lip balm again and it keeps them super soft and luscious! I do this almost every day to keep them as soft as possible.

Have you used these methods before? Give them a try and let me know what you think!

Drugstore Foundation

Hello Lovelies!
I recently made a post about the Maybelline Fit Me concealer and thought I should follow up with the Fit Me foundation! I know I'm hitting you with a lot of Maybelline loving right now but when I find good products I have to let you all know. I rarely ever buy the same drugstore product twice since I always have this feeling that there’s better out there and so I’ve gone through tons of bottles of foundations from different brands, to different textures, to different shades. For the first time in the history of my make up life, I bought the same foundation twice. This foundation is the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation for normal to dry skin! I’m very fair and so I usually get #115 in ivory.

What makes this foundation so great? You might be wondering. Well, just the like concealer, the foundation has medium coverage. It doesn’t cover all of my blemishes perfectly but that’s nothing a little concealer can’t fix. The liquid formula is also great for dry skin! I suffer from such dry skin especially in the winter time, and I find that this foundation doesn’t flake my skin the way some others do. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced foundation (about $9 Canadian) this is the way to go!

I have yet to find the perfect powder to add the final touches to my makeup routine, Does anyone have any good recommendations or anything they’d like me to try?

Drugstore Concealer

Hello Lovelies!

I have so many things I want to talk about, but I'll start off with the Maybelline Fit Me concealer! Many of us are at a point in our lives where spending $50 on a designer concealer is just out of the question, even if it is the holy grail of all concealers, and so we turn to the good old drugstore for our makeup needs. This is why I'm bringing you the Maybelline Fit Me concealer!

It started when I watched some reviews on YouTube and heard many beauty guru's claiming that the Fit Me concealer was as good as the NARS concealer, and so of course I just had to try it. I managed to get it for about $7 which fits very well into my beauty budget.

The Fit Me concealer has medium coverage and is perfect for people with mild acne, such as myself. I do tend to break out here and there and this concealer does wonders for me. However, I do have to say that if my breakouts were more serious I would probably work on getting a concealer with more coverage. It's also a liquid formula which makes it great for my dry skin! The creaminess makes it very blendable and there's a few shades to choose from. I have pale skin and normally go for #15 in light. Do any of you use this concealer? Let me know!

The Struggles of Growing Up

Hey Friends!

This post is dedicated to all of you in your twenties. Now unlike many, I was absolutely dreading my twentieth birthday. Why? you might be wondering, and the answer is simple. Responsibility. I knew that turning twenty meant things were going to change, and I was not looking forward to that whatsoever.

Normally, one is supposed to have a plan of what they're going to do once their undergraduate studies are over. Nearing the end of my third year, I'm realizing how hard that actually is. Don't get me wrong, I've always had the plan that I would be whisked off to med school, get engaged to the love of my life, buy my own house, and basically become a self-sufficient adult. Unfortunately, not everything is going according to plan.

I'm not entirely sure where I'm going with this post and I think that's the best description of what it feels like to be in your early twenties. You start off really well and have an idea of where you want to be, however you're not quite there yet, and you suddenly start to realize how behind you actually are. Not to mention you're competing with thousands of other applicants who want the exact same position as you, and who happen to have better grades, better extra curriculars, and sometimes even better hair. Have you resorted to the good old "10 ways to make my resume look kick ass" google search yet? Because I have.

I guess what I'm trying to say is you're not alone. If you feel like you're lost and you don't have your life figured out, that's okay! So for all of you twenty-somethings struggling to find your path in life, I'm challenging you to join me and together we'll figure this out. First things first we need to ask ourselves, what career am I working towards?

Hello!

Hey Friends!

I recently decided to start this blog and just wanted to introduce myself. I'm currently a third year university student studying neuroscience in Canada. Although science is my passion, I do love all things travel, beauty, food and music related. Typical? Maybe. But that's just me!

Stay tuned for more of my oh so exciting life!
